Uma modelagem organizacional baseada em elementos de natureza comportamental

A abordagem deste estudo é de natureza qualitativa, apoiada em estudos de casos, e se fundamenta em disciplinas como a Sócio-técnica, Estruturas Organizacionais, Comportamento Organizacional e Gestão do Conhecimento, para explicar a ação ou comportamento organizacional. Pretende-se desenvolver referências, através de mapas conceituais e modelos, para se descrever e explicar a ação ou comportamento organizacional, que são representados pelos processos e atividades. Inicialmente, é construída uma base conceitual, em que se destacam aspectos relativos à forma da pesquisa, dentro de um enfoque estruturalista, e de aspectos relacionados ao conteúdo, identificados com a Teoria de Gestão do Conhecimento. Também se definem alguns elementos em termos de metodologia, para que se possa elaborar uma estratégia e diretrizes de pesquisa. De posse destes conceitos e definições, pode-se, então, desenvolver um mapa conceitual para orientar e referenciar a construção de modelos organizacionais. Um modelo para a ação é desenvolvido e justificado, através de estudos de caso. A grande contribuição do trabalho é organizar as referências para a modelagem e o projeto de sistemas organizacionais, identificando, entre outras variáveis comportamentais e intervenientes à ação organizacional, o "conhecimento organizacional" como um elemento de definição da "arquitetura organizacional"

Analysis of the production function in civil construction: a driver for lean construction

The construction industry has bleen an important role for economic growth, and gains in productivity could produce a significative impact. However, historically, it has been proved that this industry is operating not significativelly well in terms of efficiency related performance. The objective of this work is to justify the adoption of Lean Construction, as a comprehensive alternative for addressing problems related to resource and systemic productivity. To frame the productivity problem, the work analyzes the productivity of this sector, using the production function of Cobb Douglas, which is an econometric concept that provides information to assess relationships between the total volume produced, and the resources that are used during the production process. The present work has analyzed biggest  companies in the world of civil construction, all of them listed in the Forbes 2017 publication. The production function analysis shows that these organizations are experiencing returns of decreasing scale. To address this results, this paper discusses the use of lean construction as a feasible alternative to increase productivity, considering the effects that operations networks and supply chain level could produce in the aggregate level of industry performance

Waste and Sustainability in small furniture Industries of Paraná Southwest

This research presents the results of a study on the environmental issues related to the operations and lean manufacturing the two furniture companies located in the city of Pato Branco-PR. The methodology was characterized as a survey with descriptive approach and the data collection was done through questionnaires to managers. To demonstrate during the study, based on literature and supplemented by questionnaires to the company are adapting and being managed within the waste disposal perspective and how they are using disposal practices and reuse of materials in wood. As a result, generally two companies with different views of how environmental programs can help the competitiveness of the company. Within the lean perspective were identified waste and lack of specific control for residues generated. Organizations should try to seek a means to balance its related environmental issues operations for global improvements

Lean Construction: IGLC research evolution and agenda for the future

The way Lean Construction has evolved within the construction industry is still not entirely clear. Inspired by lean manufacturing, there are differences in the output of the construction industry, thus resulting in differences between both types of sectors. In 2012, Jacobs, Folkestad, Glick have conducted a study analyzing the works published in the IGLC between 1996 and 2009. The authors have noticed a gap between Lean Construction and the Toyota Production System framework. In view of the high volume of publications between 2010 and 2016, as well as of the dynamics of the sector, this work proposed to reanalyze the 686 works published in this interval, and to verify whether there have been changes in the content of Lean Construction. It also proposes to map, within the proposed topics, the main topics studied each year through content analysis. Initially, the results obtained with the publication of 2012 have been compared, and it was possible to verify that certain topics remained, as was the case of work-on-process improvement. On the other hand, new topics have emerged and became frequent, such as the case of the Last Planner tool. Thereafter, a roadmap was drawn up by grouping the main topics covered each year by topic, allowing the understanding of the development of Lean Construction in the studied time interval

Knowledge Management and Blockchain Technology for Organizational Sustainability

Goal: This paper develops a conceptual model representing existing relations between blockchain, knowledge management, and sustainability. Design/Methodology/Approach: A systematic literature review was carried out, and a total portfolio of 43 articles was obtained. These articles were then analyzed using the content analysis technique. Results: Identifying the existing relationships between blockchain and knowledge management and between knowledge management and sustainability was possible. This information allowed the elaboration of the conceptual model, which resulted in the identification of the roles of each theme when related to each other. Limitations of the investigation: The limitations refer to the diversity and complexity of the themes, which made it necessary to limit the search for articles to two databases; the temporality of the research due to the evolution of the blockchain; and the failure to consider the risks arising from the adoption of technology and the negative aspects of the relationships between the themes. Practical Implications: With this article, companies studying blockchain adoption, looking for ways to improve knowledge management, or seeking to adjust their impacts on sustainability, can find information that helps in decision making. Originality/ Value: This article proposes a conceptual model that explains the relationship between three current and increasingly essential topics for organizations. To this end, it seeks to identify in the literature how the application of the first (blockchain) improves the execution of the second (knowledge management) and how this impacts the third (sustainability)

Avaliação qualitativa da utilização de práticas do lean manufacturing: estudo de caso em uma indústria de utensílios domésticos em alumínio e ferro fundido que não possui um sistema lean estruturado

This work presents a qualitative assessment of the use of Lean Manufacturing techniques in a housewares industry, aluminium and cast iron that does not have a Lean system implemented in Southwest of Paraná. The evaluation was conducted in two production lines of household items, using four sources of evidence: direct observation; interview with Director, Manager and supervisors; analysis of documents; interview with 06 production operators. Through such evidence was possible filling out a checklist with 82 items that aimed to evaluate Lean practices that the company uses. Was possible through this case study to identify strengths and weaknesses of the system used by the company, allowing suggestions for improvements in the implementation of Lean practices.Este trabalho apresenta uma avaliação qualitativa da utilização de técnicas Lean Manufacturing em uma indústria de utensílios domésticos em alumínio e ferro fundido que não possui um sistema Lean implementado localizada no Sudoeste do Paraná. A avaliação foi realizada em duas linhas de produção de utensílios domésticos, usando quatro fontes de evidências: observação direta; entrevista com diretor, gerente e supervisores; análise de documentos; entrevista com 06 operadores de produção. Através dessas evidências foi possível o preenchimento de uma lista de verificação com 82 itens que tinham como objetivo avaliar as práticas Lean que a empresa utiliza. Foi possível através desse estudo de caso identificar pontos fortes e fracos do sistema utilizado pela empresa, permitindo sugestões para melhorias na implementação de práticas Lean

Reviewing Digital Manufacturing concept in the Industry 4.0 paradigm

Digitalization of manufacturing is once again on the industry application research agenda and Digital Manufacturing plays a fundamental role in this process. However, there is a lack of commonality in the literature about the purpose of Digital Manufacturing. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the concept and application domain of Digital Manufacturing considering the increasingly established Industry 4.0 paradigm. Based on a content analysis concepts are framed, and new technological characteristics identified. The paper contributes to a better understanding of the future challenges that companies face by positioning Digital Manufacturing conceptually and delimiting its application domain

AVALIAÇÃO DAS PRÁTICAS DE SUSTENTABILIDADE NAS OPERAÇÕES DE SERVIÇO EM UMA INSTITUIÇÃO DE ENSINO SUPERIOR

As Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) possuem papel social extremamente importante, são elas as responsáveis pelo local em que atuam, por formar cidadãos que contribuam para uma sociedade justa e solidária em seu entorno. As universidades podem envolver-se com o desenvolvimento sustentável no seu planejamento, gerenciamento, educação, pesquisa, operações, serviços comunitários, aquisição de materiais, transporte e infraestrutura; a presente pesquisa busca identificar práticas de operações sustentáveis em instituições de ensino superior, verificando a evolução histórica do tema de pesquisa, procurando conhecer ações geradas nas próprias instituições e em modelos de avaliações que possam ser adaptadas ao contexto educacional; sobre os recursos metodológicos a pesquisa referente aos objetivos é caracterizada como exploratório- descritiva, pois busca explorar um fenômeno e descrevê-lo em sua essência, o método utilizado na pesquisa é estudo de caso, no presente estudo é utilizada a pesquisa qualitativa; como resultados da literatura foi constatada uma crescente preocupação e organização por meio de várias declarações assinadas por universidades em várias partes do mundo a partir da década de 1990; nos modelos estudados foram identificados indicadores que corroboram para a construção do modelo de avaliação de operações sustentáveis aplicados em uma  Instituição de Ensino Superior no Brasil; e como conclusão verificou-se que mesmo a instituição sendo jovem já possui ações e metas a curto, médio e longo prazo

The Strategic Role of Lean– A Discussion

Operations strategy and its development have received a lot of attention in the operations management literature. However, literature related to benefits of improvement programs, such as lean production, is often contradictory to operations strategy principles. There is a large body of work arguing that lean can bring substantial performance improvements, indicating that operations strategy formalization might be unnecessary when certain operational processes improvements are applied. However, some literature emphasize the importance of operations strategy, stating that its formulation leads to superior competitiveness when lean techniques are properly related to competitive dimensions and to decision areas. In this study, a comprehensive literature review has been carried out to reveal insights on both streams of study and it is used to conceive a framework and a research interview protocol based on that. Hence, this study compares experts’ view of the strategic role of lean. Such a comparison is done through a range of interviews. The results support the notion that lean can generate a strong advantage in many competitive dimensions; even so, a formal strategy approach is still necessary to focus lean model implementation

Aprendizagem organizacional e desenvolvimento de competências: uma síntese a partir da gestão do conhecimento

As organizações estão operando em um ambiente altamente dinâmico e competitivo, tais aspectos caracterizam a “economia do conhecimento”. A aprendizagem organizacional e a formação de competências constituem processos de grande importância para a manutenção e desenvolvimento da competitividade. O objetivo deste artigo é estudar as relações que se estabelecem entre formação e desenvolvimento de competências e aprendizagem organizacional, tendo como contexto as definições estabelecidas pelo desenho ou projeto organizacional. A pesquisa é de natureza teórica e visa construir, a partir da literatura, um quadro conceitual que identifique as relações que se estabelecem entre a formação e desenvolvimento de competências e a aprendizagem organizacional, sendo estas relações mediadas pelo projeto organizacional. O desenvolvimento conceitual do artigo fundamenta-se na articulação de elementos como o conhecimento organizacional, aprendizagem organizacional, competências organizacionais e o projeto organizacional, para formar como produto do artigo uma síntese, na forma de um framework, que represente as relações entre aprendizagem e competências
